Jake and Shannon’s wedding celebrations, wacky festival-inspired fun

And here we thought the Glastonbury sign was cool…

Creating the Wedtek Festival Vibe

To bring their vision to life, Wedtek provided an immersive festival-style setup using both our Double Tipi and Stretch Tent, offering plenty of space for festivities from daylight to moonlight.

Jake and Shannon opted for our Bronze Double Tipi Package, complete with Fairy lights and Dandy Dura matting. They added their flair with some of our vibrant festival decor, including a disco ball that set the tone for their first dance and carried the energy well into the early hours.

Alongside the Tipis, our stretch tent provided a shaded, welcoming space for the first drinks, speeches, and casual mingling of strangers and friends alike. It housed our Bench and Table set, offering comfort and a cool retreat from the beating mid-July sun.

Dusk till’ Dawn

This isn’t our first festival-inspired wedding—and something tells me it won’t be our last—but there’s just something about this format that feels like a match made in heaven. There’s a unique kind of magic that happens when the energy of a music festival meets the emotion of a wedding celebration, and Jake and Shannon’s weekend-long party was an amazing example of that.

Their schedule for the weekend was nothing but fun throughout. It was packed with quirky and fun activities that kept guests laughing and entertained from start to finish. Highlights included a wildly entertaining bucking bronco, a hilarious husband-calling contest, a pub quiz filled with cringeworthy (but lovingly curated) questions based on the couple’s most embarrassing Facebook posts, and a series of sports day-inspired games for all the family.

Once the laughter and games had run their course, the celebration seamlessly shifted. Guests made their way into a beautifully decorated tipi, glowing with fairy lights and alive with music, where the dance floor quickly filled.

If you’re interested in the union of Weddings and Festivals (sorry, couldn’t resist), you can also check out our blog on Ben and Bridie’s wedding we did last year, which was a different approach to a festival-style wedding but still just as amazing.

The first dance

There’s something undeniably special about festival-style weddings, the perfect blend of laid-back fun, heartfelt moments, and wild, unforgettable memories. Jake and Shannon’s celebration was no exception. From a weekend full of quirky games and hilarious contests, to a tipi dance floor that kept everyone dancing late into the night. Their wedding was a shining example of how joyfully creative and deeply personal these events can be. It was a celebration filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of character, and we were honoured to be part of it.

With a little help from my friend

When Jake and Shannon, friends of Mikata, found themselves facing a last-minute cancellation of their original wedding plans, things weren’t looking good. But with the support of their friends and the Mikata crew, what could have been a disaster; transformed into a weekend that brought people together in the most unforgettable way.

Set in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, the weekend was filled with heartfelt laughter, tears of happiness and moments of reflection. Strangers arrived, but left as friends. It’s beautiful to see how the love between two people can bring people together, drawing a community around them

A Wedding to Remember

celebration was a testament to how, with a little creativity and a lot of heart, something beautiful can grow from unexpected challenges. We were honoured to be a part of Jake and Shannon’s monumental day, and proud to help create the kind of special magic that only comes from bringing people together.
